Using an empathic, trained touch Shanti will visit your pet in your home and come up with a complete plan tailored to your pet and to your individual needs as caregiver.
Growing up amongst the bustling activity of NYC, with a deep affinity for animals, Shanti developed a deep interest in the respite of nature, natural, holistic living, & various healing modalities. Shanti's history encompasses POST GRADUATE TRAINING in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, a MASTERS in somatic psychology, which addresses body language, various illness formations in the body, & developmental psychology. Feline behavior is a COMPARATIVE PSYCHOLOGY which means it is based on human psychology & adapted to the feline species.. Shanti studied human psychology at a post graduate level for 3.5 years and has worked with cats for over twenty. Unless a veterinarian has additional training in behavior, the normal school curriculum does not incorporate behavior. The same holds true for nutrition, diet and holistic medicine. Shanti has over 5000 hours professional training in Chinese/holistic principles and medicine. She served as an intern at Bright Haven Homeopathic Animal Hospice, received a certification in acupressure and massage, and an eastern certification in yoga & eastern philosophy for wellbeing. She attends the AVHMA -annual veterinary holistic medicine conference in US. Over two decades working & volunteering with animals also include consultant work for feline behavior and holistic/alternative medicine for pets, public radio appearances addressing these issues, veterinary assisting, & on-site veterinary technician training at allopathic & holistic veterinary offices. She is also a contributor to NY Times Company's -www.allexperts.com for holistic/TCM medicine and feline behavior. Often referred to as the "cat whisperer," she served as a member of SF Animal Coalition, with the goal to hopefully decrease the alarming numbers of animals abandoned to city shelters. On SF SPCA's cat behavior professionals referral list, she has also served on the board of directors for a bay area rescue & has helped local rescues with health and behavioral issues. Shanti has worked on acute "terminal illness" patients & turned them around to become vibrant beasts. Her clients have included a list of varied persons from SF animal rescues to a Napa psychiatrist to an LA actress/runway model to a NY Yankee. Using a TCM perspective, Shanti formulates a natural healing approach for dogs and cats for optimal living. Holistic perspectives address not only physical health, but behavioral, mental, emotional and psychological health as well as the environment and the individual's connection to nature and it's cylces. Seeking to correct underlying imbalances, and getting to the root source of pathology is her primary goal. Chinese medicine consultations, pure, natural nutrition, supplements, massage, exercise and stimulation requests, relationship building techniques, and behavior modification are used to enhance the life of your pet!! Each pet is assessed for it's unique constitution as well as breed & age propensities. Shanti's home is a mini zoo, & lives with a passion to liberate all sentient beings from suffering, a commitment to self cultivation, a love of travel, art, exploration and continuing education, natural nutrition, a love of balanced living and harmony for the earth, and all of its inhabitants. She is an active member in local animal community issues as well as conservation efforts for wildlife across the globe & hopes to enhance empathy, love & a deep reverence for beasts everywhere. She believes she can help animals without the exorbitant prices charged for animal medical care and has been doing so successfully for many years! She is truly holistic unlike many in today's world who are using this as a marketing term, but lack sufficient training in holistic modalities.
